In another time, this was one place. United.
But it is not that, now.
There is a line.
Period.
That’s all.
Statistics and numbers. News for news reports.

But it is really just here, a place that some of us call home.
Home.
On one side of the line, or the other.
It is as if there was a war, somewhere, in a far off country. Fighting and destruction, that someone else is feeling.
But not here. Not me.
That really shouldn’t be happening here.
So why is it?
In this story, just like in every story, something eventually happens. What will it be this time? Haven’t we seen enough?
Over and over.
Times far too many.
Aren’t we pushed hard enough against the wall?
To let go?
To release this hardness of heart, and reach out and change?
It is time.
When there is no more room to step back further. no more logic that supports turning away,
when honor and bravery meet compassion,
It is time.

When there is no place left to turn away, no more wisdom in divisions, when you and I and all of us are no longer separate,
It is time.
