Recorded on July 12, 2018 at Studio 152 in Pro Tools with a pair of Shure KSM141s, Vintech Dual 72 preamp and UAD Teletronix LA-2A bus compression. Restored Baldwin 7' grand. As always, no edits just mild processing.

This music was performed in one continuous statement. It has been edited into two tracks to meet Bandcamp's 600 MB file size limitation. This is slightly unfortunate because it was intentionally one continuous statement. As it turned out, there was a point where there was a natural silence that allowed the break to happen without altering what had been played. But this point is not an ending or beginning but rather an inverted apex of the arch of one continuous piece.

About two-thirds into the piece I realized that themes had started to fall into a shape closely resembling the sonata-allegro form. This was unintentional at the outset and even after I realized this was a possible direction, I still did not let the form shape the music. It is interesting that it turned out as it did.

The cover photo was taken in the French Quarter in New Orleans about 18 months ago. The contrast between the bright white of the lightbulbs against the dark frame of the door seemed appropriate. Thank you for listening!
